Why do Schools conduct interviews for the Pre-primary section?
Pre-primary education is the initial stage of education. It is for the academic development of each and every student. It will be an activity-based curriculum which helps to develop their basic knowledge about many things.
The concept of the pre-primary section interviews are:
- To interact with students to know about their overall behaviour towards learning.
- To know about the interests and skills of the students.
- To determine a student whether they are capable to answer some simple questions or not.
1. Hi Good morning! How are you today?
This is will be the first interaction section between your kid and the principal. As a parent, you have to teach them how to wish very respectful to others with a pleasant face and a good smile. For instance, Very Good Morning! I am Fine today Thank you. 'First impression is the best impression' So Kids should be very active in the initial stage of the interaction.
2. What is your name?
The next question will be your Name. So you have to teach your kids to say their names without any hesitation. For instance, My name is Hannah
3. Can you tell me the spelling of your name?
Sometimes the Principal will ask your kids to spell their names. like 🗣 H, A, N, N, A, H
4. How old are you?
Most probably the principal will ask about their age. Parents have to teach the age, date and month of their kids. For instance, I am three years old.
5. Where do you live?
This question will be the common question that everyone will ask to your kids. So you have to teach them the exact place where you live. For instance, I am living in London, near the movie theatre.
6. What is your mom's name?
This will be the mandatory question in every nursery interview. So you have to teach at least your family members' names to your kids. My Mom's name is Kelly.
7. What is your dad's name?
The kids should be able to tell their family members' names without any doubt. My Dad's name is Christopher
8. Do you have any brothers or sisters?
If your kids have brothers or sisters you have to teach their names too. Answer be like, Yes I have a younger sister and an elder brother named Albert and Kelly.
9. Which is your favourite Food?
This question will be one of the most interesting questions for every kid. This can be answered very easily by them. My favourite food is Macaroni and Cheese.
10. Can you tell me any three colours' names?
Commonly kids love dark colours. As well as every parent can identify the colours to which they are most attracted. So teach them that colours to your kids. For instance, I like Red, Black, and Blue.
11. Can you see here any of the colours that you have said?
Possibly they will ask whether these three colours are familiar or not. So you have to teach your kids these three colours with examples. like RED🔴 BLACK⚫ BLUE🔵. The answer is like Yes I can see red colour here or No I can not see any of my favourite colours here.
12. Who is your best friend?
This will not be a mandatory question. Even though, If your kids have any best friends or have any favourite person, they would be able to answer this question. For instance, My best friend is Darbie.
13. Why do you like her?
This question answer will not be very familiar to your kids. But you have to teach them any qualities of them. For instance, She is very kind and friendly.
14. How many fingers do you have?
This is an important question that every kid has to know. So every parent has to teach their kids the total number of fingers. For instance, I have 10 little fingers.
15. Can you please count it?
This would be the next question. So you also have to teach them numbers from 1 to 10
ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE, SIX, SEVEN, EIGHT, NINE, TEN.
16. Which is your index finger?
Most probably the principal will ask to show the Thumb, Index finger, Middle finger, Ring finger or Little finger/Pinky of your kids. So you have to teach each finger's name by showing their fingers as an example. For instance, This is my index finger.
17. Which is your favourite game to play?
This will be an important question for your kids. There are many games in the world but your kids have a particular one on their bucket list. So you have to teach them how to answer it rather than in one word, it's better to answer in a sentence. For instance, I like to play video games.
18. Which is your favourite fruit?
This is another important question for your kids. Fruits are one of the basic things that every kid has to know. At least you have to teach any five important fruits names to your kids. For instance, I like Bananas.
19. What is the colour of the Banana?
Maybe the principal will ask your kids about the colour of the Banana. So they would be able to answer the question. You have to teach them their favourite fruit colours. For instance, The colour of the Banana is Yellow.
20. Can you recite the alphabet from A to Z?
It is a common question. We can not go to an interview without learning the alphabet. It is the first thing that every kid should learn.
21. Can you please tell me the name of this fruit?

These types of questions are very common in every kid's interviews. kids have to identify the name of this fruit. Most probably the principal asks only the common fruits' names. For instance, It is an Apple.
22. What is the shape of this Fruit?
Another important thing that you have to teach your kids is some shapes of fruits and vegetables like Circle, Square, Triangle, Rectangle, Oval, Diamond, etc... For instance, It's round in shape with red colour.
23. Can you please tell me the name of this Vegetable?
Kids may not be familiar with this type of vegetable. So you have to teach them some common vegetable names with examples. It's Lady's Finger.
24. Can you draw a circle here?
Mostly the principal will ask your kids to draw some shapes like Circles, Lines, squares etc... Yes I can.
25. Can you recite a poem that you have learned?
This question will be very important to every kid who is going to attend a nursery interview. So parents you have to teach some interesting poems to your kids and tell to them sing the poem very well with a happy face and smile. It would be enjoyable for your principal.
